Supporting Our Troops Overseas

[U] Topeka Marines

Hi Can People,

The packages arrived today, fortunately and unfortunately the Marines happened to be in the Office on the rare occasion when we had a staff meeting, and of course the Mail clerks came in with the packages. They saw the label addressed to me from “The CAN People.” They just knew. I barely had a chance to open the box before getting over run. They did leave me two CDs, (Little Texas and the Tractors), a bag of socks and the coffee (They knew better than to take the Coffee).

It was like one of those happy days at a family picnic where nothing was wrong and everyone was happily laughing and for a period no one thought of the places they are missing or currently stationed. Thank you so much for the care and concern. It meant so much to me and a great deal more to my Marines. I feel like a dad to most of them, and my heart glows to see them happy, even for a moment.

Tell Mrs. Brays Class we have their drawings tacked to our ceiling (The only place left to put pictures and cards due to the size of the maps and white boards). But rest assured they get plenty of attention from our visitor’s. The kids in Carter Elementary School are each and every one my hero.

Best regards and thanks from me and the DET 2 Topeka Civil Affairs Marines,
2nd Battalion 11th Marines

DET 2 Chief
